The Long haul

From Don Khone we took the bus to Pakse. Not because we wanted to go there but because it was our only option. It isn't much to see honestly. A few huge markets and it does sit right on the bank on the Mekong as pretty much everything in Laos does. We spent the day walking around. We we're really killing time. We watches some of a soccer practice. I got a $2 haircut. We bowled a game. We even played snooker despite not knowing the rules. We made up our own which was fine except the  workers at the place sat and watched us and I am sure were wondering what we were doing. I are at this local noodle shop that Brandt didn't feel comfortable eating at. Not that I blame him on account of the flies.

Training are in pakse. They had some soccer event going on.

Bridge over the Mekong. The gap in the tree line is a big Buddha.

A Wat near the river.

We got in around 8 on the morning and our bus didn't leave until
8 at night. There really wasn't twelve hours of fun to be had. We killed the time and made the best of it though.

We took the night bus to Vientiane which was about 10-11 hours. It went pretty well. Surprisingly so. I brought my laptop so we watched a movie and we slept pretty well.

Comfort at its finest

We intended to take care of our visas for Vietnam and even walked to the embassy which was closed for some holiday. I guess we will have to try again in the next town. We stopped to see a big archway and wondered the streets for a whole checking out the town. In the evening they had the night market which was pretty cool. Everything shits down early here.  I think 11:30 and if the place is pushing it twelve. It's alright though. Tomorrow we are going to Vang Vienne and that's were they float the river. It's supposed to be a really fun town.

Roti in a whinnie the pooh holder. The red tents in te background are the night market right by the river.
