Happy New Year

Happy 2014. We brought in the new year 14 hours before they did back home. In fact there is still four hours before New Years back home.

During the day yesterday we switched hotels to go downtown. We wanted to stay close to where the action was. We did some shopping and wandering through Jakarta. It was fun. We took it easy for the most part.

For the New Year we went out to the street. The main road near our hotel was closed down. We walked a mile up the street to to a big round about with a fountain in the middle. That's where we celebrated the new year. There we're stages with music. We even heard the song enter sandman. For the twenty minutes before New Years it was non stop fireworks. People would buy these fireworks that look like Roman candles but shoot a shell that explodes into the air. There were thousands of these. It really was quite impressive.  All in all a really fun night and a great way to bring in the new year. Lots to look forward to this year.

We took our time getting up today and transferred hotels. We are actually staying in a really nice place tonight. We had one day where we're eaten alive by bugs. I probably got 20-30 bites and just couldn't sleep at all.

Today we went to Bogor. We went to this plaza area where they had like a fair type thing going on. They had zip lines and ponds with fish an other activities. Thy also had shopping.

Bogor

Some good food in Bogor. We had a pork and noodle dish. It was really good. For being a Muslim  country it wasn't hard to find a pork dinner. Now I think we are headed back towards Jakarta. Traffic is pretty bad in Bogor and we are headed right up the main drag of the old part of town.

Brandt is driving and the Indonesian girls are so terrified. It's really funny. We drive really different than they so. The most terrifying thing for then is checking blind spots. It is so horrifying for them. They are screaming and I am just laughing. Brandt is an excellent driver. It doesn't scare me even a little.
