Sounds kind of deep but it really isn't. I recently decided to quit my job and do some travel, seeking out adventure with a little bit of time for self reflection. It has been a while coming. Brandt, my travel buddy and friend since grade school, and I have been talking about traveling sine the beginning of the year, but just a couple months ago decided to take the plunge and buy tickets. Its been a bit of a whirlwind ever since. I had a hard time concentrating at work and immediately created a list of things I wanted to do before I left. The list of things I wanted to do went largely unfinished, but there were some unexpected complications that came up namely in the way of a house.
At the beginning of September Tyler, Ashley, and I purchased a home that had been foreclosed on. Hundreds of work hours and a month later and the house looks completely different. Wish we had some good before and after's, but it really is incredible in what you can do in a Month. It really was a great experience for me to work with my sister Ashley and Tyler so closely on the project. It was a lot of work, but a time I will always remember. Tons of people helped out with the Project, and I am super grateful to all of them. My Family, Devon, Brant, Alicia, and of course Tyler and Ashley. I really have amazing people around me and owe so much to all of them.
I'm writing from the couch of my Grandma's house on the first leg of our adventure. After some rough goodbyes leaving Utah we got to California. Brandt and I immediately got the opportunity to use our construction skills. First cutting back a overgrown pomegranate tree that was draped over power lines, and now we are replacing the floor in my Grandma's hallway. An exercise I because all too familiar with over the past month in the remodel of the house. Not a real big job, but a bit of a challenge with not having the proper tools. Its been a good transition into traveling though. I am glad we were able to help.
We did have some time for some fun as well. Sunday we got the chance to go to Santa Monica with my cousin Nicole, and had a really great time. We went to sunset beach and played around in the ocean and had some fun on the beach. Check out Brandt's blog for some pics www.brandtwhiting.blogspot.com. Then we went to Venice beach, Brandt wanted to check out muscle beach. We got to Venice only to realize we really wanted to be at the Santa Monica pier so we walked/ran to Santa Monica. The Work out area was a lot of fun. Big swinging rings, ropes to climb, monkey bars with huge gaps between. It was really fun, but I am feeling to affects of it today. Venice is a really cool place. It has a really cool feel with workout areas, the boardwalk, local shops, and a beautiful beach. It turns into a different, but equally entertaining and awesome place at night. The vagrants take possession of the boardwalk and you get all sorts of entertaining rants and people yelling at you as you walk by.
This was a bit of a long and wandering post. I will be sure to add pictures in the future and keep them a bit shorter. I am seriously grateful for everyone who helped me get out here. I am excited for a new chapter in my life and look forward to the adventures.
